Say goodbye to stress! Steven Shortino opened his iSmash entertainment venues featuring rage rooms, black light splatter painting, and axe throwing in 2018 and since then, celebs like Gordon Ramsay and Beau Casper Smart have joined in on the fun.

“Whether you’re a family looking for an exciting day out, a group of friends seeking something different, or even someone just wanting to blow off some steam, we provide a memorable experience without breaking the bank,” the CEO shares.

As for what that entails: “Visitors can expect an exhilarating and unique experience with an upbeat atmosphere. Whether it’s smashing old electronics in our rage rooms, creating vibrant art in our black light splatter painting rooms, or testing their aim in axe throwing, there’s something for everyone,” he shares ahead of the new openings in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada.

And regardless of what activity you choose, guests can expect to leave any tension behind.

“In the smash rooms, the physical act of breaking things allows people to vent their frustrations in a controlled, safe environment. Black light splatter painting is a creative outlet that lets people express themselves in a colorful, uninhibited way. Axe throwing is both a mental and physical challenge that requires focus and precision, helping to clear the mind and relieve tension,” the founder says.

In addition to these thrilling experiences, Shortino makes sure to prioritize self-care in his every day routine.

“Find small, daily activities that help release tension, like physical exercise, deep breathing exercises, or creative outlets like drawing or journaling. Even something as simple as taking a walk or listening to your favorite music can help reset your mind,” he notes.

What works for him? “I make sure to set aside time for activities that recharge me, like spending time in nature, exercising, and enjoying moments with family and friends. It’s also important to recognize when I need a break and not be afraid to take it, whether it’s a short walk or a weekend getaway. Balancing work with personal time helps me stay focused and motivated.”
